I interpreted organ as a body part and was a little bit confused until I opened the picture.
Let me guess–your shop used to be the school auto shop? That definitely looks risky for getting carts/machines in and out though!
Close, we are not in a school, but I have been told that the place was a car factory a long time ago and this would be used to get cars from the second floor to outside. It is certainly risky and we almost never use it. The facility forklift does use this to get up and down and I imagine that is rather intense for the driver.
He’s just napping, don’t disturb him
Speaking of Dean, we have a cutout of him overlooking our shop.
Outside of FRC, I’d say that would be pretty unusual, however, in this community, maybe not so much…
I don’t have a picture and we no longer meet there, but in our old shop the company that donates us our space had a giant energizer bunny head that was at least 10ft tall.
We have a cutout of Gails head in our shop (signed by her!), along with many former members.
Our build site doesn’t have anything unusual per se but contains old remnants of its past life. The building we are housed in was once the admin centre of the old Chrysler/Mitsubishi car manufacturing plant. Manufacturing ended in 2008 and after a bit of time has been reworked to form a stem hub with multiple stem company’s and a university precinct in some of the old buildings of the plant.
You can still see old pinboards around with notices still stuck to them, a Mitsubishi safety flyer in the bathroom and one of our rooms is called the diamond room.
Some might say that it seems messy or something, leaving traces of it around still but I like seeing it’s old life still there. It’s a part of our states history and a part of the fallen automotive industry in Australia, but we are a small part of the site that is reinventing itself just like the rest of the state.
Is it … functional?
It isn’t hooked up to plumbing if that is what you mean.
You really put the A in STEAM!
We have multiple pencils stuck in our ceiling, I’m not sure how they got there but they have been there for YEARS.
Its not like its a particularly look ceiling either, if someone threw them up there its very impressive. For reference:
Looks like the load in ramp at the Wisconsin Regional haha
I feel like I need to buy something weird to hand up in the shop now. Out of context the weirdest thing we have is an ice fishing auger.
Don’t hang that in your shop.
Sneak to a warm-weather team and hang it in their shop without them noticing.
