Wheel Vendors?

Our team is going to use 6 inch diameter wheels in one of our prototypes. does anyone here know any good online vendors who would sell wheels with a 6 inch diameter and have 5/8 inch keyshafted center? Thanks

Steve

Ask them for the special FIRST order form in addition to what they have available for everyone to see. It has some other options.

They sell foam wheels if you want those for some reason.

It may be tough to find wheels with the keyed hub that you are looking for. You may have to buy a wheel and design your own hub to press into it.

Some good places to look for wheels:

Team 121 is using 2" x 4" colson performa wheels (from robotmarketplace). They were around $7 each. We made our own keyed hubs out of aluminum and pressed them in.

Good luck in your search.

We just got our AndyMark 6" Trick Wheels in the mail and they are all I hoped they would be. AndyMark also sells hubs with a 1/2" keyed hole.

Thanks Andy (and Mark)!

Generally you can search on industrial suppliers like mcmaster and wheels. Usually the sizes appropriate for robots are under the caster wheel category, but you can just page through their catalog. You can also do a Google search for caster wheels. Skyway and robot marketplace though are the two best places to look for wheels that are easy to mount to robots though. So I’d look their first and see if you can find what you need.

There’s always the option of making your own wheels ;). Also, www.northerntool.com sells wheels under the “low speed wheels and tires” category but I think all their products are on robot marketplace too. Also, you might find some here http://www.npcrobotics.com/products/index.asp

The simplest thing to do is probably make them. 1241 started on the project and are still working to get it done. the weight is not really a problem assuming, you would use aluminum for the wheel and put treads on the wheels. you can keep them down to about 1 1/2 to 2 lbs max.
