Most likely, they’re still putting the finishing touches on it…I’m positive there will be a link from FIRST’s site once it is available…
The Parts kit is up but you must request an account from autodesk. I received my account today. I can’t remember whom I emailed to request this account, but I got the contact info from a email that was sent to all “Team Main Contacts” I’ll look it up tomorrow and post if no one beats me to the punch. It appears to be only some of the parts, not “all” as advertised.
Here is a copy of the email that your “Main Contact” received on 12/17/01. I signed up on 12/17/01 and received my account yesterday. There are 25 parts in their library. All models are designed using Inventor 5 and are not backward compatible to Inventor 3. My intentions are to include my versions of these models on the FIRST CAD Library site using Inventor 3 and translating to all other formats. I’ll do this as time permitts over the next 4 or 5 days.
AUTODESK INFORMATION:
After the FIRST Kick-off is over and you are ready to begin designing your robot, Autodesk is making available, free of charge, a Virtual Kit of Parts created in Autodesk Inventor. The Virtual Kit of Parts will also be able to be used in AutoCad and 3ds max and will be available on Streamline (additional information will be posted on the FIRST web site after the Kick-off). If you want access to the Virtual Kit of Parts, you must obtain a password and account number through Autodesk. In addition to the Virtual Kit of Parts, Streamline will make an e-room available, accessible only by your team so that you can collaborate with your team mentors and partners on line! To be a part of this process, please email [email protected] and give him the following information:
Team Number
Main Contact Name
Main Contact E-mail Address
Edwin will set up an account and password for your team. This may be shared with all of your team members allowing you to make the most of your Autodesk software and the virtual kit of parts in your design process. Please note: you must contact Edwin with this information by December 21, 2001!!!
Our main contact never received this info, and now it’s too late. Oh well.
Thanks ED!!!
If you need any parts drawn up that arent there…I can get em for you…assuming there are specs or at least I have a caliper (which I do)

I’m open to any help I can get with posting models on the FIRST CAD Library, however there are a few constraints:
I’m working in Inventor 3 so that teams that still want to use last seasons software (Inventor 3) can do so and be productive.
All models need to be as accurate as possible. I want this site to maintain a very high level of user confidence as to the accuracy of the models.
I need to test all of the models sent to me for undesirables such as viruses before posting.
If you want to contribute, email models to me at [email protected] along with the author’s name and team number. If they meet the criteria, I’ll get them posted as time permits.
