Where can I buy 1/2” hex bearings locally in Central NJ? I moved here a few years ago and I’m still learning the area, do any teams do this or everything switched to online? Thanks for the help!
1/2" hex bearings are not a common commercial item. I’d wager that FRC is the biggest market for using 1/2" hex shaft as power transmission, and the bulk of 1/2" hex bearings are sold to FRC teams. As a result, basically all common hex bearing vendors are going to be the online stores that cater to FRC audiences. Thriftybot, AndyMark, VEX, etc.
That being said, for almost any other industrial need, McMaster-Carr has a warehouse in Robbinsville.
If you really need to buy them locally, you may need to go to McMaster Carr or Grainger. We’ve found them to be expensive. We typically use the voucher in the KOP to get some from swyft and we purchase from www.thethriftybot.com, www.vexpro.com or www.andymark.com. We’re in Metuchen NJ if you need more assistance.
McMaster doesn’t list any with 1/2" hex bore.
Find a nearby team with an old kit chassis
Yup, I think it’s bad that the woman at package pick-up knows my name at McMaster carr. I live out here and still mentor in Coney Island Brooklyn. We used to get them from a supplier there but they closed down, so maybe the NJ teams know a secret that I don’t know
Jim is correct. Should have checked the catalog first!
