Your team of three has to fix your cargo ship using large panels to fix the holes
You then load cargo which are big balls that will roll out if the hole is not covered
For some reason, there is another team of three trying to stop you while completing the same task…
Then it occurs to me, I’m working for some big unknown entity, loading up some unknown cargo no questioned asked while unquestionably trying to sabotage an unknown competitor.
This has the makings of a movie all over it (can anyone think of a movie that relates? The Island comes to mind, but not quite there).
Now that our robot woke up to what’s going on, I’m not sure if we’re the protagonist or that first crazy robot that dies at the beginning of the movie to start the protagonist on their journey.
Well, you’re obviously part of the Alliance, trying to gather resources to defend and protect the galaxy. Your opponents are the evil Alliance who is trying to stop you and gather them for themselves.
Which alliance is represented by Red or Blue in the game, of course, depends on which color your particular team has been assigned for that match. Everybody always thinks of themselves as the “good guys”.
One reoccuring theme in Sci-Fi films is the monolithic corporation that takes over all the other corporations. Whether that is Weyland-Yutani in the Alien movies, Soylent from Soylent Green, the Corporate class from Rollerball, Conglomerates Amalgamated from Outland, or Taco Bell from Demolition Man.
So I am going with we work for Planet Express from Futurama and the game is some weird bonus plan that Hermes came up with.
The game takes place in space. Clearly it is Jedi vs. Sith. As you mentioned, each side thinks that they are the good guys; likewise, Anakin says “from my point of view, the Jedi are evil.”
I’m thinking it’s American Airlines (Silent Running), but that means that the opposing alliance works for American Airlines too. With all the defense and bots breaking after being crashed into this year, it just seems appropriate.
I am starting to think that this Trade Federation is not as civically minded as I thought it once was… maybe the Intergalactic Banking Clan will prove to be more fruitful.
Cold War/Space Race continues to modern day, the USSR and the US both develop nuclear rockets and compete for dominance in space. What else could blue and red symbolize, other than capitalism and communism?
