Which designs are prohibited by Disney copyright for logos?

I know that Disney is not allowing copyrighted or trademarked designs on team logos, aside from the default avatars. What exactly is and is not trademarked? Among the team designs submitted for consideration were some that definitely were not allowed via copyright (there was an X-Wing design) but, say, would the Rebel Alliance logo be permitted to be incorporated? The design is not copyrighted, based on some cursory research, but would the shape be trademarked, and if so, how oblique must any references be?

Yes, you can use Disney copyrighted/trademarked Images IF you ask for permission and get your design approved. They have some caveats (see below).
FYI, turnaround time to get our design approved was 3 days.

We’ve received an exciting update from our friends at Disney/Lucasfilm! Due to the many request from the FIRST community Disney/Lucasfilm have graciously allowed teams to incorporate Star Wars characters and elements of the galaxy to celebrate this year’s theme. Please keep in mind that anything containing the FIRST RISE lockup or Star Wars characters and elements are only acceptable for team use (e.g., t-shirts, giveaways) and cannot be sold.

Our apologies for the delay, we hope there is still time to incorporate Star Wars into your team’s season.

Please send over your design as soon as you are able. There will be some delay as the design will need to be reviewed by additional members of the marketing staff.

This is our first request for a release, which will come from Lucasfilm. The turnaround time may vary.

Sending over 3 designs would be great. The more options the better.
