This polls purpose is to see what strategy is more important when it comes to focusing on balancing or shooting basket balls.
Is it too late for Strategy focus?
Both are important, but consider that balancing three robots is completely unneccessary until Elimination (it’s worth exactly as many points as two robots before then), and that it requires the cooperation and ability of two other teams. Basketballs, on the other hand, can score points for your team even if you have to pull their weight.
@farmersvilleRob: Oh no - balancing minibots!?
I guess my question would be
Which one is more important for what?
high qual score
getting picked
winning at regional
winning at CMP
This year these four things could be quite a bit different.
for example. With the possibility of additional points added at CMP for a 3 robot dance on the bridge… it really makes winning at CMP and during regionals different…but most years you have to look at CMP winning as different than regionals because of the across the board quality of robots at CMP…
I wonder if teams will worry more about coopertition points or just put on a good display on the field in the hopes that teams notice and pick them.
This is the first year where the coopertition points could put a less than optimal robot in the top 8… what I mean here is that the top 8 alliances are 50% weighted for abilities that have little or nothing to do with winning the elimination rounds. Of course being able to balance can help in the eliminations… but balancing with an opposing alliance robot (which is a different skill in some ways than balancing alliance robots…) counts for nothing in eliminations…
Robots which dominate in points scoring on the field will dominate the elimination rounds… it behooves all teams to do a really good job of scouting. I believe that looking at qualification rankings will NOT be a good way to do a pick… in the past this has also been true but this year it is especially true.
