Who has successfully THROWN ringers on to the rack yet?

One person on our team (2077) was able to THROW two ringers onto the rack. Once during practice rounds, and another during the qualifying match. We have great video of the one during the qualifying match here. Unfortunately we did not win that one, but the throw was pretty sweet.

Here’s the video:

our alliance won a match 2-0 because of a human player’s thrown ringer. Our human player also scored 2 or 3 ringers at our first regional.

Our HP scored 3 during qualifying & elims at Florida Regional

I believe we got three on total (including one in the quarterfinals)

I’ve seen 294’s human player successfully do it for half of their matches but ours has been unsuccessful as of yet.

I recall that at St. Louis, only one human player successfully scored a ringer. The announcer actually congratulated them specially on that.

Someone threw a spoiler on as well, but it landed on an empty spider leg!

Our human player was able to score two ringers on the rack during the practice matches, but none during the qualifications. One of the times the tube actually landed on the OTHER side of the rack!:ahh:

Throwing tubes on the rack really seems to be a working strategy.

Another strategy was to throw a tube on the opposing team’s ramps to pull the ten point penalty for the other team and to halt a robot from climbing the ramps. I don’t think that was very successful in Wisconsin but innovative none the less.

coming from a human player, it has been difficult to score ringers. i scored one (it was actually a spoiler) during the practice matches but none after that. the ringer seems to veer off course at the last second.

(as a tip, i found that throwing it as a frisbee but using your back hand to give it the extra push gets it to the spiders. accuracy helps.)

At St. Louis, only one made it on during elims (the one mentioned earlier, the MC actually came down to the player station to congratulate him). One or two people got them on during qualifiers (217’s human player did once, in the match where we broke in the first 3 seconds), and practice day was basically “throw as much as you can” day so there were definitely a couple thrown then too.

Here in LA we had our HP throw a ringer on successfully in two early qualifiers.

During practice rounds at GLR, one alliance had no working robots, so only the human players reported to the floor. The alliance won 2-0 by a thrown ringer.

Have any ringers been negated by human players?

Well my team was able to put one on in practice rounds

also some team manage to litterally get it on top of the rack

not at vcu. there were only a couple of times that spoilers were even on the field. and at vcu, most of the tube scoring was done on your own side, making it pretty much impossible to put a spoiler on it.

Have any ringers been negated by human players?

For this reason, throwing ringers towards the rack when there are a good number of ringers already on the rack is quite dangerous! The reason is two ringers of the same color on the same spider leg equals no ringers on the spider leg!

To answer the question, I saw a total of probably 5 or 6 ringers scored by human players during GSR (practice matches, qualification matches, and elims). This is actually a pretty low percentage considering how many human players were trying this strategy. So, I would say less than 5% of the thrown ringers were successfully scored on the rack through the act of being thrown.

151 and 166 had the two most successful human players at GSR, in my opinion. Our team hasn’t kept track of human player scoring this year, so I don’t have any actual statistics.

Team 166’s player at GSR had a particularly consistent flat throw going. She obviously spent a lot of time practicing and the tubes tended not to tilt and veer off like most other throws seen.

  • got a couple of them thrown onto the rack as a matter of fact. One of them i threw so hard that it landed on the top spider leg on the other side… :ahh: *

Our human player threw one onto the top spider leg to win our first qualifying match 4-2. He also managed to get a couple spoilers over the rack and into the opponents home zone.

i accidentally landed a ringer on a spider that we already had a ringer on. It was one of the few times i got a tube on the rack, and it would’ve lost us points, but it was only a practice round
