FIRST Robovation has had a trial run!
Sounds pretty cool – bi-weekly relatively low key events followed by a bigger deal event at the end of the season.
Sounds a bit like OCCRA (Oakland County Competitive Robotics Association).
So… who was there, how did it go and why haven’t you dished the details yet?
Do tell…

Sounds like the competitons back in the good ole days. Well, didn’t I say last year that they would upgrade the EDUbots for competition as a gateway between FIRST and FLL? Eh, it dosn’t matter. This will be much easier to hold during the off season then a full scale FIRST one…
Did you try contacting FIRST at the numbe listed at the end of the article?
Cindy Abrams of FIRST at (603) 666-3906.
This competition used the Edu robotics kits. I will try to get some pictures of it. It was fun to watch and to see FIRST on a smaller (and cheaper) scale. The game is almost just like the 1992 season except like previouslly stated, their are several “events” where teams compete.
To be honest, I did not read that article, and didn’t think it would be that “note” worthy on CD, but hey I guess it is.
YES we are interested. Many of us have been advocating an EDU (Robovation?) based league between FIRST Robotics Competion and FIRST Lego League.
This is essentially EXACTLY what we’ve been looking for.
Any pictures and/or firsthand accounts of the process would be welcome indeed.

I just want to know where you can find some of the sensors that are discussed on the ROBOvations link on the FIRST site. http://www.rec.ri.cmu.edu/education/robot_builder/Their rangefinder and encoders look quite interesting.
