Who was the best hanger?

Who do you feel was the best hanger? Some could do it in autonomous, some could strafe on the bar, some could do it from the ground, and some could do it really fast! So who do you feel was the best, or deserves to be recognized?

Yeah…330 could get up on the platform in autonomous, then hang. They could strafe across the bar and had an arm that could protect/decap the stationary goals.

I have never seen them in action ( :frowning: ) but from what i have heard, the wpi (190) machine was very good.

As for “shimmy” bots, the best were 330 and 237, but I though 330 had a little bit of an advantage. A) They get on the platform in auto B) They Can uncap… But, 237 had the power to stop teams from getting on the top platform with their bot-not-hanging-so-high design. If you want to see a match between these 2 hangers, check out the team 195 video gallery (link below) and watch qualifiying match number 96

716 had a really fast hanger. They got easily on the platform and just zipped up. Also, 237 had an awesome hanger and they could strafe across and block w/ their hood.

I liked our partners in Curie finals - 66 and 279 along with thier parter in yipsi. They can hang consistently and look real good doing it too.

233 Pink.

no contest. they would defend till a few seconds and then they would hang they could not be stoped

190

Hung in atonomus!!! and then deployed plastic shields on the bar to keep other robots from hanging

Team 48 Delphi E.L.I.T.E.

I lost track of how many last second hangs these guys pulled out. They could play defense for a good 1:40, then go to hang and make it with time to spare. They knew exactly where to position their robot and arm to minimize the time it took to complete the maneuver. They turned hanging into an art form.

The winches employed by teams 60, 67 and 254 were also great to watch as well. These floor hangers were very hard to defend. I was shocked to see how quickly these teams managed to get themselves off the ground via a winch. It took some smart engineering to make this happen.

237… 330… pink 233?

for everyone that posted and did not put in 190… shame on you =P

While there were a lot of good hangers, my vote has to go to 190. Hanging in auton every time I saw them, positioning themselves dead center so they could un-cap the stationary goal. It was a thing of beauty.
Thanks to 190 and 179. A great alliance, it just wasn’t our time.

I think 190 was my fav. When I first saw it hang in autonomous, I was amazed.

Let’s see…
The alliance from Ypsi of the curling bots: 279, 66, and 322 were all awesome.
The Huskies, 65, were pretty good too… as were wildstang and team rush (111 and 27… fun to watch them play together, too- Ypsilanti and Chicago).
I’m still in awe of 190 hanging in autonomous.
Beatty could hang fairly well (Witnessed: chicago, nats)
… as could CyberBlue and 'Da Bears (chicago)

As for at the nationals:

Galileo:
I was impressed by 1305, 1359, and 868 for consistency.
I also watched 358 and 157 hang in situtations I thought they’d NEVER be able to. 852 hung very quickly a couple times.
64 was so creative… I loved watching them move back and forth along the bar.

Archimedes:
111, 71, and I got to see 33 once, which was awesome…I never thought they’d hang that quickly.

Newton:
Very impressed by the hot bot, and there were a few more in the finals that were good too.

Didn’t get a chance to watch Curie at all … :frowning:

There were way more good hanging bots this year than I thought there would be, and trust me…I’m sure I’m forgetting a lot off of this list.

88 was consistant everytime we wanted to hang (except for the time when our hook caught one of the ball collectors while we tried to stuf them)… I was shocked at team 190 (WPI) robot… That thing was sick!!! haha I loved 870 and 871 because they can hang from the 1st plat form… 67 was a great robot for hanging… 111 what can I say??? 111’s robot is always awesome… 868 was nice for when I got to see them… I won’t go on and name them all but those are just some… I didn’t get to see chiefdelphi in action… :frowning: I’ll just have to roll the video from soap…

I loved Chief Delphi’s (47) hanging mechanism. They made it look easy, and they did it extremely quickly. I’d also have to nominate Delphi E.L.I.T.E. (48), it was mentioned above, but with 20 seconds they could go up there and have time to spare. Awesome.

Too bad our drivetrain driven (PTO engaged) telescoping arm with 12 feet of reach never got to go on! That would have been awesome…and saved us at Nationals. Oh well…

Although I only saw video, 190’s autonomous hang/defend stationary/cap stationary combo was pretty cool. As for defending the bar, I liked team 64, the Gila Monsters, because they could move from side to side and they hung so high (although they did suffer a couple falls from the top :ahh: )

hey thanks to all of those who considered us good at hangin. we saw alot of great hangers also. first 2 teams that stick out are 67 hot bots and 1114 simbotics. 67 hung like it was nothin. and 1114 could cap and hang with out movin from the first platform. thats incredible.

Thankyou 11 for picking us. I agree, I think we should have taken currie, but BUZZ was a BUZZIN. I think 11 hung every match except ours, took 5th overall! (very nice). And our hanger gizmo had stage fright, worked flawlessly on the practice field (hung 5 times over there) But not once in a match… ugh…

My three best hangers were 330, 190 and 237

179’s hanger thingie scared the crap out of me the first time it came whizzing by my head when it was realeased

I (naturally) like 322 and 279, but other than them I like 67’s hanging.

sigh I wish 639 could’ve made it to Championships… Our robot was roughly the same as 48 for hanging time but for the first 2-3 final rounds, a big air leak plagued our system. Nonetheless, this is a cool clip from Finals 1.1 against 1114 & 48: http://www.yan-wang.com/robotics/hanging.wmv
