Who's tossing a turret on this thing?

With the flexibility of the gamepiece you can feed it through a pretty small turret ring. Who’s gonna give it a try? I am sure someone will, irrelevant of the drivetrain underneath…

Our robot is already on four tiny turrets. I think that’s sufficient!

It may be helpful at extremely high levels for hoarding strategies but other then that, I honestly don’t see too much value especially since you can only hold one note at a time.

we look to be going down the path of the coveted turreted bumper

My reasons for not doing a turret this year:

  1. The speaker is very wide and can only be scored from one direction. As long as your robot is facing the right direction, the turret will only be saving a moment of spinning/driving at best. We also experienced in 2022 that in-match turrets often took more time to calibrate and occasionally just didn’t want to work (limelight got distracted).

  2. Turrets improve shooting time, but since there is a one game piece limit, the shooting time is minimal; there isn’t much time to cut off.

  3. I don’t think it makes much sense with the flip intake like cranberry alarm has, especially if you want a short robot.

  4. It’s more complicated, takes more time, more weight…

The perfect Crescendo robot would have a turret. There will be some good teams cook up an insane turret design, and I’ll think “wow, we should’ve done that.” However, most teams that have six weeks to build a robot will have different priorities.

Lol. A+ response

It would probably be a huge waste of time, especially for teams like mine who have limited weeks. We’re instead using a moving appendage that picks up notes and deposits them in the amp.

We’re doing a turret on an arm attached to an elevator linked to a drop-center motor-in-swerve chassis via a virtual 4-bar. Or not.

You forgot the power take-off climb

Power take off from what subsystem?

yes

We’re considering it heavily right now for a few strategy reasons. I don’t think it will see a ton of use however so it’s lower on the design list after we complete the under bumper intake and a solid shooter that can also do amp scoring.

Me!
