Whose working this summer?

Summer jobs. Yes.

Anyone getting off their rear this summer and doing anything. I got a job in a machine shop (one of our sponsors) so it looks like I’ll be working 40 hour weeks at 7-8 dollers an hour playing with big tools. Might get boring, but hey, I’ll know how to do all this stuff for our team next year. I’m looking forwards to it.

Any other peoples working, or are you all going to be bums (like I was two summers ago)?

I will be ending my 11 month internship at Rolls-Royce on May 30. I will be starting my new internship at Eli Lilly the week after, hopefully :]

ya im also gonna be working a 40 hr week for a local pharm. company here in jersey named NovoNordisk. i did it last year and it killed alot of my free time, but money is nice

This summer I start my new job as an Emergency Medical Tech. (EMT) for American Medical Response. They run as the ambulance on 911 calls with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The units I will work with cover more than 50 square miles and a population of over 750,000.

(The schools that represent teams 259, 478, 606, 687, and 1135 are all located in the division I got assigned to. So if anyone on those teams sees an American Medical Response Ambulance coming down the street with lights and siren, that may be me!)

Yes, and Sean is goign to let me drive his ambulance with siren and lights wailing when I come down there this fall arent you Sean?
nudge nudge If he doesnt, I will be absolutely heartbroken :frowning:
(now you have to let me!!!:D)

ok now to answer the question…

I want a job. I need money. Money so I can go down to So Cal and drive Sean’s ambulance :p.

I would like to work somewhere that I find interesting, although summer jobs usually dont turn out to be your ideal job.

Some possibilities:

Bike store (I love bikes, maybe second only to robotics)
Climbing Gym (Not an instructor, just at the front desk)
Caddie (they make really good money, plus free golf, one of my other passions :p)

One not paying job, but somethign to keep me busy that I was thinking about is Habitat for Humanity. I have volunteered there a couple of times, and it was really cool. Defninitely a good way to help some people out.

Cory

/me thinks cory is crazy

my mom is making me get a job to pay for my trip to IRI (which isn’t exactly my idea of fun, but the trip’ll be worth it :D) . i’m thinking of working for my city’s parks and recreation department… i have connections  but i might just settle for working at VONS or something simply because it’s across the street from my house :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve got a job at the local YMCA, where I’ll be an assistant teacher for a martial arts class twice a week (I’ve been studying karate since I was 5 years old). It will be really fun I think, and a great expirience for me to learn, and improve my teaching skills. Of course, my dad wants me to get another job too, since I won’t get that much from the YMCA (It’s really not about the money to me … but I’m going to college, so my dad wants me to get some spending money). I just signed up for a summer course to take my Chemistry class early, and get it out of the way, so it doesn’t look like I’ll even be able to get another job. Oh well … I’ll still be involved with various off-season FIRST projects, so my summer is looking fine to me at least

Stephen

I need a job - anyone in the Michigan area going to be nice and help out a fellow FIRSTer?

Please?!

This august will be my 1 year anniversity working at a restaurant named Gary’s… God why am I still working there!!!

i will be taking another welding class along with four of my team mates, taking Geometry, teaching Lego League, and edu-robotics kits for our summer camps that our team is going to hold this summer.

I will be working for my team’s main sponsor P&G through our schools youth apprentice program . 40 hrs a week.

If there were any jobs in the area, I’d get one. So far, the only jobs besides fast food are gone or require me to be 18 (which I won’t be till the middle of summer). Looks like I’ll be making some food pretty fast. Get it? Oh god…just end it now! I dun wanna flip burgers :frowning:

I kinda got on late in the job-hunting bandwagon, so I’ve been left behind.

My parents are closing their convenience store after 19 years, so I’ve been helping out there giving them some time off. I’ll only be able to do that for another week. It’s not hard work, the pay’s 7 an hour, so not bad. Not exactly good either for a 19 year old college student.

As of late I’ve been also been doing computer repair for various people/businesses. Not bad work for ~$20 an hour.

I hope to work Country USA down in Oshkosh. On the good side, I get paid ~$10 an hour to serve people beer. On the bad side, I have to serve people beer all day and listen to country music. Country music isn’t that bad I guess. Hey, it could be worse, like a Creed concert or something.

Then maybe I’ll try to get a position working at EAA (Worldwide aircraft show) thru Zoggs vending. That usually pays around $8 an hour. It’s really neat though because you get to see all the planes and the airshow (well, you still have to work, of course).

Oh yes…I will be spending my time poolside this summer as a lifeguard (very original, I know). For anyone from Indiana, I’ll be at Tropicanoe Cove in Columbian Park if you wanna visit me!! It would be good fun…we’ve got the the water slides and lazy river–what more could you want? And then of course there’s me in a bathing suit…

Ah yes, the struggle to find a summer job. Well, I started turning in applications in early May, and only two employers have gotten back to me since. Both of which have interviewed me, hired me, had me sign up for hours, and THEN ask me how old I was.
“Oh wait, how old are you?”
“Um, 17…”
“Oh, I’m sorry, you have to be 18 to work here, sorry! Call us back a week before your birthday.”
STUPID PEOPLE. You should have told me that BEFORE I even filled out the application, much less gone through an interview. Geez! Anyways, I’m still looking for a full time job, but luckily my friend helped me out and his dad’s restaurant hired me for the weekends, and they’re paying me quite well. Good luck to all you summer time workers out there. Don’t forget it’s the summer, so have some fun while you’re at it!

I have a job already that i have had since freshman year, but they cut us all back to half time and i need full time…anyone have any ideas?

I currently work at the local Bonanza… dreaded job… and I can’t stand food. Hopefully something better will open up soon for me to find for the rest of the summer.

I will be finishing up a Youth Apprenticeship Program at CraftMaster on June 5th. Sad to see the job go being it was absolutely awesome.

I also work at a B&B. It’s a wonderful job, however I don’t have great hours. I will be continuing with this over the summer though for the fun of it.

If I get off my lazy duff and turn in my resume b4 someone else does I might be working at the local movie theater…
(free movies~):stuck_out_tongue:

I water flowers.

No really I hand water a little over 5,500 orchids for this lawyers’ private collection (and it pays quite well…with the 25% tip he gives  )
