Why a Unicorn

Team 1262 was fortunate to achieve an Unicorn in Qual 23 at CHS Dist in Richmond, Va this past weekend with Team 1610 & Team 539. My Question is, where in the world did the term Unicorn come from.

Unicorns are super rare. Have you ever seen a Unicorn before? I haven’t…

A unicorn game this year is one where an alliance gets 4 RP.

A unicorn swerve originates from this comment.

Unicorn in FRC usually just means something that is exceptionally rare.

Not to be confused with the Loch Ness Monster though, which originated in 2012 as the triple balance.

I believe a sighting of Nessy was even more rare than a Unicorn

Name a superior beast

@Nessie has been sighted 323 times, per Chief Delphi statistics.

Should the Loch Ness sticker make a return for triple L3 HAB climbs?

Only if the Triple Tortuga makes a return for failed attempts in which three robots become inverted.

What is a Unicorn + a Loch Ness =? That will probably be pretty rare but I hope to see one. Maybe the first one to do it gets to name it.

A subscription to The Quibbler of course

Unicorns aren’t that rare if you have the means.

Here is an artifact from a real one, via the Doge’s Palace, Venice, Italy:

The word that comes to my mind when thinking of both unicorns and 4-RP matches is elusive.
