WildStang 2014

Introducing WildStang’s 2014 robot.

Some additional photos are here.

I like it. Awesome. What do the blue arms do?

Looks fantastic. Can’t wait to see you at midwest.

That anodizing is gorgeous. Nice to see some color on a 111bot.

Are we getting a video this year?

The best part is that you brought back the bouncy balls in the rollers.

Awesome looking robot. Can’t wait to see it at Wisconsin and Midwest this year.

Gotta send a shout-out the Stang electrical sub-team. Most space-limited wiring job the team has ever faced.

Seconded. Steve Garward is my hero.

Are they just for decoration?

Yeah, the balls are only for decoration. And this year, we didn’t have to drill them for weight!

There’s a lot going on in that thing, especially in the bottom. WOW. It’s kind of amazing to look at and try to figure it all out.

I see those little balls inside. Are those intake rollers run by squirrel power?

The rollers are run by a Banebots 550. These were not plugged in in the photos.

You have no idea… :ahh:

Under the catapult is the PD board and 6 victors. Under the PD board is the air tanks, solenoids and tubing. Up the back are more victors, the cRIO and pneumatics components.

It’s very dense, to say the least. But the students that wired it up did an amazing job keeping it so neat and compact so that nothing gets torn out by our shooter.

I really like how they have polly-cord running the intake rollers. That is a clever solution to get rid of having to create a chain or pulley system, it kills two birds with one stone. It saves weight and it reduces space.

OOPS! Looks like we forgot to tie down the 5 volt convertor. Add that to the list.

Don’t worry Al, we got that guy with velcro.

looks like they are for picking up the ball

Ah. Now I see what you are talking about.

OK,
Going back to sleep now…

Ok, I must be missing something cause I dont see the battery, or maybe it just wasnt in the pic…

But…

HOLY SMOKES! that is one packed robot!

I like the addition of the anodizing this year. Looking forward to seeing this machine in Milwaukee!
