I found an interesting corilation that makes a lot of sense. In the 24 regionals so far, 13 of the radioshack award winners have went on to the finals and 9 of them won their regional this is interesting but at the same time completely understandable. Just thought id share that.
very interesting. Sounds like the criteria for the award is a good summary of what it takes to have a winning machine.
Is this a fluke this year, or has this happened in past years? If the award correlation is consistent then it would define a good set of parameters for teams to add into their design requirements.
I think teams that use the camera well win the Innovation in Control?
Certainly a good camera would take a team a long way.
We used the camera, pots, and optical (photogate, infrared?) sensors and won the award. We did not get picked for finals.
the award is for auto, controls and the camera. basically incorperating them all into the best working system. at least thats what i feel that it is
It’s a trend, not a guarantee
Add to your list Wildstang 111, winners of Radio Shack Controls Award in both Chicago and Wisconsin, Champion in both Chicago and Wisconsin. One more thing to look at, 111 paired with 2 rookies in Chicago (1756 & 1810) and 1 rookie in Wisconsin (1816). In addition, 1732, 1736, 1770, 1775, and 1806 played in the finals in Chicago and 1714, 1716, 1732, 1739, 1781, 1816, and 1864 played in the finals in Wisconsin. That is almost a third of the teams in the finals were rookies. Look out world, Midwest rookies are coming!
