I’m thinking of mounting a wireless camcorder/camera on the robot during the competition so that we can stream live video to our website.
Problem is that I don’t know of any wireless camera that can do this. Also, I don’t know the details behind the internet connection provided in Florida. If a live stream is to be provided, we would probably need a pretty fast connection.
Anyone know of such a camera or details of the net connection?
Well…
“The net connection” differs from venue to venue…
Last year, at the Silicon Valley Regional, I had a little access to the live Real Media feed to the internet…
San Jose State University has two dedicated OC-3 lines, practically none of which is typically taken up by student or official use (as far as I could see from the router statistics, which I conveniently happened to find [becoming friends with the network supervisor is a good thing ])
However, actually tapping into this connection would be rather difficult, either with or without authorization. Even more so would be to set up a server, running a webcam or what-have-you…
Though becoming even greater friends with a network supervisor could be a good thing…
/me ponders a great many things…
True Wireless Camera (none of that X-10 stuff) + Laptop + WAP + Hardline Connection + Ability to Run a Server = Great Fun…
This link is from the innovation first web site i don’t know if this camera is allowed but if it is it could be a good option. i even considered using it on our bot but that went no where. I don’t know about the live feed i believe you could some how rig a connection from the reciever i hope it helps.
So long as you don’t use the video feed for the drivers during the competition, it is a non-functional decoration…I read somethign specificaly about a camera, and it was an affimative on the use of.
It makes for some great outreach/recruitment footage!
