Wires Running Under Electrical Board

Is it legal to wire manage by running wires (tightly secured) under a robot’s electrical board?

I haven’t seen any rule that prohibits it.

Just make sure you can troubleshoot and repair things without too much trouble.

If you are tightly bundling the wires, make sure all of those points are accessible without removing anything so you can add or remove wires easily.

Do not mix power wires and signal wires in the same bundle.

R613: “The PDP/PDH, associated wiring, and all circuit breakers must be visible for inspection.”

R624 allows specific, different wire colors for both positive and negative. This makes tracing wires in a bundle much easier, but in 16 seasons I haven’t seen any but black and red.

The RI in me says perfectly legal and checks the box on the form and then says. “While this is fully legal you should take care to ensure they stay secured and protected from damage.”

Thank you all for your help! I just wanted to make sure that I didn’t miss a rule in the game manual. I didn’t see a rule for it so I got nervous

If by “electrical board” you mean the Power Distribution Panel (PDP), we did this in 2020 and it passed robot inspection so we assume it was legal.

Just to make sure, is it ok to have them on the undermost section of the robot? Like above the ground undermost?

While technically okay, they can become a problem and the RI may question it. If they are tied up well, it should be fine.

Ok, thank you.
