In our robot we are planning to have approximately 7 cancoders, my question is what is the best way to power the encoders?
Each CANCoder draws 60mA maximum. So you could theoretically power 32 CANCoders off of one 12V/2A port on the VRM. I’d recommend using WAGOs to connect the wires together.

Cancoders are listed as accepting 6-16V, so you should be fine giving them unregulated battery power by splitting a PDP channel (just make sure you only have 1 wire in the PDP itself per R618).
You can split the PDP channel with WAGOs or with a product like the AM Powerpole Distribution Board or the REV Mini Power Module.
