A search of this site did not uncover any warnings regarding the soldering of wires to the Fisher Price motor lugs. There are many warnings about doing this for the drill motors. Anyone have any trouble connecting the #10 wire to the Fisher Pice motors?

We have a mentor who installs alarm systems. He was concerned about the #10 wires being moved around and breaking off the lugs on the Fisher Price motors. He soldered the wires to the lugs on the motor and then used tie wraps to hold the wire to the motors, with a loop going to the lugs. It looks like he came up with a good solution.
Sounds like what we did.
The tabs on the FP motors have some form of protectant on them so we scrape that off first. Then solder a flag terminal (i.e. a right hand terminal) on the end of the #10 wire, then solder the terminal to the motor terminal. Once that has cooled we use ty-wrap to attach the wires firmly to the outside of the motor or to the motor mounting bracket (whichever affords the best stability) and finally insulate the exposed terminal with heatshrink.
