I would like to use this space to thank WPI BattleCry for allowing my team to make a presentation yesterday. At the time I was unable to publicly express my thanks to them and CHAOS, Team 131.
For those that were there, my team followed a great tradition that WPI began last year for their Advisor, Ken Stafford. I have been with CHAOS for 8 years and have always been proud of my team.
Yesterday was like having an extra dessert, 3 young college students who were leading members of C.H.A.O.S. while in high school, ran the team for the day. I am proud that they followed the example that I have tried to set for them. The high school members treated them with respect and they got it back in return. We had a wonderful day with lots of success on the field, but the feelings of respect by my team towards each other really overshadowed that.
I have always tried to find the strengths that every student has and put them to use helping the team. This has been our key to success. You do not build self esteem by telling a person that they are good at something when they are not, but by really caring and finding out what they are really good at. They appreciate and recognize honesty.
As C.H.A.O.S. enters a period of uncertainty after losing a major sponsor, the strengths of the students will determine our destiny.
Thanks to Delphi for allowing a space for this message…even though it is not in the “THANK YOU” section.
Dave Kelso, asvisor, Team 131, C.H.A.O.S.
