YDDR: CVT Differential Dual Wheel Caster Nidec Swerve Drive

CAD Link
I think this is truly the greatest thing in robotics since wheels.
Credit to Nuclearnerd for the differential design and 1640 for the CVT.

One question: w h y

Well, I was PLANNING on going to bed soon but now Im terrified of the nightmares this thing will cause.

Thank you…

How much does it weigh?

Inventor says 8.7 pounds, but i would make it 9 or 9.5 due to some inaccuracies in the materials the software is using to get the weight.

So it’d only be about 60lbs to run this in a 6 module swerve. Nice!

I just can’t fathom putting this much effort into a meme.

Thanks, I hate it

Needs more springs

shouldn’t there be active suspension on this module?

You could just mount this on some linear bearings and let the whole assembly ride up and down.

But it needs to be actively controlled, so you need a linear actuator on each module as well

Hey, don’t be mean. We don’t have to be mean. This is totally where robotics is going in some Bizarro universe where high-powered motors always burn up. No matter where you go, there you drive.

0/10 using servo for cvt instead of another nidec

needs more throttle motors

Now you’re speaking my language.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. Well done.

if I’m looking at this right, it uses about 4 concentric “shafts”. I love it. If you were to really go all out, you would make it swank as well, using tank treads. I see room for improvement
