You Know You’ve Been on FIRST too Long When…

You have dreams about drive trains
Talk about the competition in your sleep

When you go to social gahterings and ramble on endlessly about FIRST to people who could care less about FIRST and don’t notice thier eyes glazing over.

You’re on these boards on Christmas.

You search and find another thread almost exactly like this one…

Thread One

hint hint, search, then post

you open your closet to pick out a shirt and see FIRST, Duel on the Delaware, FIRST Robotics Championship 2004: Atlanta Georgia, FIRST, Final Bin Bash, Ramp Riot, FIRST Robotics 2003: Stack Attack: Housten Texas, Brunswick Eruption, FIRST…

  • you hear a number and think of the corresponding FIRST team
  • you sit watching a movie about futuristic robots and pick out all the reasons why robots would never turn out that way
  • you consider Curry Donuts a landmark
  • you start a project to make a game based on the competition
*]you try to promote your game with corny posts (see above), even though it’s right in your signature anyway
    there should be a “you know…” sub-forum

*you have a best friend on a different team see post before me
*you get mad that some friends won’t join robotics (true story…)
*you make dumb puns about FIRST robotics…the name, anyway.
*you find random FIRST memoribilia when you’re gutting out your room, and can actually put a story or two to the object. (cleaned my room yesterday, true story.)

  • You are leaving for the Airport to head to Germany in 2 hours and you are on Chief Delphi
  • You are worried that you will miss a lot of cool information on Chief Delphi when you are in Germany for 8 days
  • You spend your christmas vacation learning how the C Programming language
  • You lay in bed at night for hours thinking of wiring diagrams and animation ideas
  • You come up with words to a FIRST version of “A Partridge in a Pear Tree” while working on the robot during the offseason.

-when you plan everything around FIRST.
Dates, birthday parties, graduation, etc…
-when you call your mentor your mother or father. Note: True Story. :yikes:
-when you spend more time at your school than you do at home.
-when your mother hounds you if you finished the robot, then starts rambling about how you should already be done.
