You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

  • Every one of your Facebook or Twitter statuses over the 24 hours since Kick-Off mention FIRST in some way, shape, or form.

  • Your entire sleep schedule is thrown off after Kick-Off, every year.

  • Your mind immediately goes into full-gear the second after the game animation has finished playing.

And, of course:

I counted 40 Twitter updates (including @replies) from myself, which translates to 40 Facebook statuses. All regarding Kickoff. The people who follow/are friends with me who aren’t in FIRST were probably pretty annoyed.

Team 1735 meets at 5:35

When you spend all of your time after Kickoff on CD…only to dream about it that night as well as finding yourself reading threads in your dream. (In other words, CD just wasn’t “there”, no, I was actively reading it.)

I’m sad that there is no way to start 2604’s meetings on our team number…The closest we could get would be to swap numbers around and start at 04:26. (However, with that time, I think we should stick with conventional 12 hour time, and not 24…) :yikes:

Ok, this is one of my best friends, but I’ll post it seeing as he can’t:

  • When on your only weekend off in the next month (from your service in the Israeli Navy) you come to help with the kickoff until 1 AM when you need to be halfway across Israel, ready for service by 8 AM.
    AND
  • When in your daily 40 minute break you spend 25 minutes on the phone with your team talking about strategic ideas for the robot and checking up on your team

When you write down various quotes from all the build seasons.
When you have a shortcut icon on your desktop to ChiefDelphi.

when your days now consist of waking up, going to school, going to robotics, going to work, and then back to robotics before heading home for the night.

when you discover your guilty conscience because you are drawing robot designs in church.

when the only thing you look forward to from day to day is working on Breakaway.

when your best friend joins the team just because they know they won’t see you if they aren’t at meetings.

when your parents start talking about your 18th birthday and all you say is “i’m busy that day, it’s build season”

Or…
-Your favorite 1/4" drill bit (That you brought home with you so other people wouldn’t mess it up)
-Your team’s signature purple electrical tape
-Scrap aluminum
-A gear you spent a third of build season perfecting (that never got used)

And then when the newspaper takes your picture for being team Captain you proudly show all of this off while wearing your Letterman jacket with its robotics patches.

when you wake up early enough in the morning to check CD before school.

when checking CD is the FIRST thing you do in the morning.

and you wish…

… but your school district has yet to accept your team as a sport.

Hey Everyone!

Team 1023 wanted to help complete Dean’s HW/have another space for teams to talk so we made a “Super Nerds!!” fansite on Facebook. Here’s the link, we’d love it if you checked it out, became a fan and added some pictures and stuff of previous years!

You know you’ve overdosed on FIRST when
you set your alarm clock to your team # ex: 9:32

When you talk to some people about FRC, tell them how much you are meeting (12 hours a day) and they tell you that you are working more for FRC than they do for work!!! :ahh: :yikes: :ahh: :yikes: ::safety::

^When you see this and the first thing that comes to mind is, “That’s SO against the rules! It doesn’t even have bumpers!”

Then you proceed to show your family and they have NO clue how awesome of an idea it was XD

when while taking a college class you are tempted to put a sign on a door that says, “1519 was here!” all because you see orbit balls in the shop and the xkcd umbrella bot comic on the door and realize it is team 2342’s workshop!

when your boss puts his foot down and and won’t schedule so you can make it to robotics on time in hope that you will quit the team because of it. (i think i’ve overdosed when you make you boss really mad at you!)

… when your 18th birthday cake was the FIRST logo because you just couldn’t wait for your last season.
… when your senior year was NOT your last season of FIRST.

 I love this one.

There will not be another build season during my lifetime when I am not somehow involved with FIRST. I mean that.

Same here. Winter was made for FIRST, and skiing!

Thanks. Yeah, I mean, I didn’t want to get away from FIRST but I thought it would happen. I was wrong. FIRST is like learning to speak. Once you start, you never shut up!

I think theres a large number of addicts. I know I am.

-Your desk at work is covered with scraps of paper with robot design ideas.

…you schedule your spring semester college classes around your team’s build schedule. No lie, I made sure that my classes allowed me to get out to the high school about half-hour after the meeting starts.

Why would it be? This is my second college-mentor year.

My family wishes I would shut-up already. :stuck_out_tongue:
