You know you've overdosed on FIRST when...

When you’re ready to curse Dave Lavery sometime shortly before December, every year.

when despite this, you’re still busy hyper-analyzing and speculating on everything he posts that could possibly relate to next years game a full two months before kickoff

Hahaha My whole class did this to a new history teacher who had no idea that we even had a robotics team!

…Competed in FIRST for four years
…Decided to mentor your team and two others your first year out of hs and volunteer for a regional
…Mentored your high school team and volunteered for two regionals in your second year out of hs
…Decided to help mentor a rookie team and volunteer for three regionals your third year out of hs

…WHATS NEXT :ahh:

Create youtube videos so you can mentor people globally.

… you go home looking to buy a lathe and mill when your going off to college in less than a year.
… your homework consists of finding cool things to make in the shop.
… you begin scouting for an event before the game is even announced.
… you apply for a college because they have an FRC team. (Not solely because of that, but you understand what I mean!)

You look at the trailers of every lawn mowing service, to see if maybe it’s one from an FRC team.

I do that. Nothing like a good trailer for robot travel!

When you think about customizing a horse trailer for robots. A lot…

When your robotics team is already starting for build season.

When you aren’t sure how you are going to get all your FLL stuff done by FRC season.

When, after your robot has messed up for the 50th time in a row, you’re muttering “I hate this! I’m going to quit right now and never come back,” as you’re walking back to the computer to fix the program again!

(one of those moments of severe dissapointment after many hours of hard work… I still love it!)

-When you still have 2 months until kick-off and your challenging yourself on old games encase they come into play next year.
-You want to play the Red vs Blue puma music out of the cart next year, along with hats for you and your friends that go with Red or Blue team
-Your becoming more and more like the Big Bang theory characters (Friday was meatloaf and Halo night) without robotics
-When you check Bill’s Blog at least twice a day in hopes of a game hint (other then a tennis ball)

While I, personally, would prefer a horse in the trailer to a robot, I don’t think much customizing is needed. Just leave the horse out; it would prefer not to ride in the trailer, anyway.

In my former workplace years ago, the bosses ordered a used computerized phototypesetting machine. It was about the size of a large desk, and rather heavy. It was specially shipped from Seattle to Hermosa Beach, CA, in–you guessed it–a horse trailer! One end of the machine had a long, curving gouge on it. I liked to think that it could have been damaged by a horse kicking it.

When you wish WikiLeaks would cover FIRST…

Let’s see,

-I’m the only member of my team who’s active on Chief Delphi
-I’ve been distracted in class dreaming about Build Season
-I decided to try to write a blog about my First Experienced
-I got over my head in trying to start a FRC podcast

and oh yeah, I’ve about Driven my Team crazy with keeping them informed about Bill’s Blog (Scoundrels, they should all be reading it themselves;) )

All of the above and:
…when you realize that you are the only team member who reguarly checks CD
…create the code for your off season swerve project because the main programmer is “too busy”
…when the mentors are asking you what you want to do until kickoff

…when you get upset because you didn’t make the top post on page 166 of this thread.

…when you and your friend end a brainstorm with “We should try that out at the next training.”

…when your entire programming team hates Binky (pointers teacher)

>>>> When you spend most of your time on ChiefDelphi (24/7).
>>>> When you try to remember something on a test all that pops up in your head is robotics.
>>>> When you talk about Robotics to your dog and think she’s understanding

-When you start having dreams every night about robots.
-When you consider failing your senior year to stay in First.
-When you can tell somebody about the robots your team has built since 2001.
-When you see years past robots that are taken apart and laying in 17 different places and it brings tears to your eyes.
-when you spend weekends teaching your parents dances to songs they play at regionals.
-when you forget that other humans exist outside of the robotics lab.

My personality just changes as soon as it gets close to robot season. I get all serious. I look like I am in deep thought all the time. I don’t mess around like I do in football season, robot is serious business.

When you skip going to get sushi at work so you can stay at your desk and work on FIRST stuff…
