I’m on all 3 right now, and I have yelled that at someone at school.
-when you can’t hear the match you panic
-you can relate to more then 2 lines of white & nerdy
When you feel awkward not wear safety glasses.
-You still come up with new ideas for making the robot’s code run better (after the regional!).
Totally true!
you go to pit admin and ask them for a flux capacitor, and they send you to team 1730.
After the first day of the Wisconsin regional, Pit admin would just say, “Have you asked 1730 for it yet? They have everything.”
(Thank you for all the tools btw ^_^)
Your sitting in a District Meeting, you couldn’t care less about, and you start dancing to “Jump On It” with your dearest robotics buddies.
(actually happened today!)
<3 Ricki, Monica, and Masha!
when you’re really excited for high school just so you can start an FRC team there
when someone asks “You know you’ve overdosed on FIRST when…” and there are 1029 replies to that post…
I actually had headaches for not wearing my safety glasses for a week or so after ship… :ahh:
-You’re still on the “build season diet,” even though build ended over a month ago
-You just realize that your XM radio unit says “Delphi” on it, and your first thoughts are “CD…wait, why am I not on CD?”
-You have a CD quote in your signature on your team’s fourms
-you have gone shopping after during a regional event, and wore safety glasses to the store.
…When you get in trouble for being on CD too much.
…When you risk getting in trouble for being on CD while you should be doing more important things.
-your doing a world cultures project and your on CD (not me)
-CD is your homepage
- you can’t sleep because you want to be working on the robot so bad… (happened last night)
- your sister can’t sleep because you keep telling her everything about robots, competitions, etc. (happened last night)
Caitlin, you’ve got it really bad. It’s only your first year.
Then again, I had the second one from my dad back in 1999 or so… and I was hanging around the team wondering when I could join the year before.
lol
yeah well, that doesn’t stop me from finding more…
you can’t go to school without your team pen/button/t-shirt,
your mom wonders how you can do your homework since your desk is covered in robotics stuff,
and (my favorite so far) your keyboard is covered with greasy fingerprints because you can’t stop playing with a broken sprocket you somehow ended up with!

(btw, i did get the grease off of the keyboard)
-You somehow skip lunch while working on the robot at a regional, and don’t realize until dinner. You’re not even hungry
-You don’t realize that the awards ceremony has started until someone yells “1189 just won imagery”. You drop your wrenches, run/walk out of the pits, and enter the arena as the last mentor gives the first judge a high-five, so you run out onto the field, safety glasses, greasy hands, and all.
-Your ankle, which was already screwed up prior to kickoff, is now incredibly sore from doing the Cotton-Eye Joe twice in one day.
-You don’t realize what effect that green Safety Captain badge (and the neon-yellow Safety Captain vest, for those of you who saw it at GLR
) has had on you until you start yelling at your brothers for comitting safety violations.
-You got home from the regional over an hour ago, and you’re still wearing everything that you wore to the competition–including your safety glasses, face paint, and SC badge.
-You feel like you’re still wearing your safety glasses, even though you took them off 3 hours ago
-You talk about gracious professionalism for a few minutes while eating dinner at Subway–yet, the beginning of the conversation was spurred by a straw wrapper.
-You’ve lost the ability to speak quietly after yelling “ROBOT COMING THROUGH! ROOOOOBOTTTTT!,” and yelling over the sounds of drilling and hammering for who knows how many hours
-You didn’t lose your voice until after the competition
…it doesn’t hit you how much you miss robotics until AFTER the regional.
Wishing Team 2576 and their bot (Chupa Cabra) a safe trip home.
VIVA LA CORAZON DE CHILENO!
Just wait till you have to take an FP gearbox apart…that’s how 1135 lubed their Toughboxes.
That is so true… sobs
…you start cheering wildly whenever you hear your team number.
…you can’t stop thinking about that awesome hurdle you did in that last match. (only applies to 2008 FRC)
…you can’t sleep on the day before a regional because you too excited.
Gracious professionalism isn’t just a phrase; it’s a way of life!
