You need a new hard drive when...

Yes, there are a lot of threads like this, but my disk is full. When do YOU need a new one?

EDIT: I meant this to be sentence completion, but w/e

…you start using your iPod as a scratch disk.

when i have less then 10 gigs left i take a look at what i have and i can’t decide i just get a new one…

*note: i have 320 gigs in my current system

…you turn on the PC and just get a clicking noise. (yes the HD, suspected read/write head)

…that sound that you thought was a discharging capacitor turns out to be directly related to HD activity.

…you have another IDE and SATA spot to fill

…when your hard drive rivals the noise a blender makes.

…when there’s not enough free space to run disk defragmenter.

…when you drop your laptop.

…when you have to delete a program so you could install another one.

…when it’s the off season and you get to the point where even playing the games on CD gets boring, you decide to upgrade so you will have more room to save SOAP’s videos in the coming season!

I hate hard drives, they are the only things that eventually go on a computer.

One time I had a hard drive burst into flames right in front of me. It smells worse then a burnt dill motor.

when you let the magic smoke out of your old one

When you accidently leave it in direct sunlight in a vehicle!

… one of your ‘drinks’ get tipped onto your laptop.

Ohhh, my poor apartment-mate. :stuck_out_tongue:

You know you need a new HD when you realized you just installed Windows XP Service Pack 2.

lol. Yeah.

…when you realize that your current 120GB 5400 RPM harddrive with 8MB cache is too slow.

When Windows is telling you to clear some space on your C drive… or else :]

…Mac OSX won’t even burn a CD for you.

(Mac buffers the whole cd on the hd)

-you cant make the magic smoke to go back in
-it gets so loud it keeps your roommate up at night

When you have no more room to rip CDs to.

I just upped the mp3 partition to 60 gb. Time to go buy some more cds.

…when your boot sequence sounds like a jet startup sequence, and then a week later it even shoots out a jet of fire :ahh:

…then it starts taking over the world.

You need a new HD when you, like me, is running a Gateway 2000 w/ a 3.6GB HD and you can hear the clicks outside the room in another room with the door shut. In this case, you need a new computer. I hope to find another cheap one soon.
