My second cousin, once removed, who I have never met, found me at Champs yesterday.
The great grandson of my great aunt and uncle. Who’d have guessed I had another family member who mentored a robotics team?! (Joey mentors Team 1986)
Anyone else have crazy “Never thought I’d see YOU at champs…” experiences? Maybe an old childhood friend, former coworker, etc.?
When I first joined my team, we had a CAD mentor who was a really nice guy and great at what he did. He taught my twin brother everything he knows about CAD, and now my twin has designed some incredible stuff thanks to him.
He moved across the country (literally across the width of the United States) for work about 4 years ago, and we never thought we’d see him again.
So my team shows up at worlds… and can you guess who our robot inspector was? It was none other than our former CAD mentor. My lead mentor was THRILLED to know it was he who would be looking at the great things we’ve accomplished this year!
I’m just hoping and praying I’ll someday meet my 3 very specific friends from elementary at a competition
