Zipline live camera

We built a zippline camera robot and tested it at a FTC event at Kettering University. We used Tetrix parts and a FRC control system to grab the video for live feed. Took two hours to build and it worked GRAYT. Using two FTC batteries it lasted three hours before it died, but we were watching the battery level and apparently it was inaccurate. How can we get a true battery level output so we know when to change batteries ( it’s difficult to change batteries in the middle of the cable). We hope to use it at an FRC event but the view may be limited, unless we can find a USB zoom camera.
