AndyMark is seeking a Director of Engineering and I wanted to share some information about the position. This position reports to me, President of AndyMark, and is part of our Executive Team. This individual would supervise AndyMark’s talented Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Departments. While we have a highly skilled engineering staff who are passionate about the FIRST programs and developing new products to help FIRST teams succeed, the day-to-day management and prioritization of products and projects will fall to this individual. This person must also have good communication skills, enjoy working as a team and have FIRST experience.
One of the benefits of working at AndyMark is that we encourage our staff to be involved in the FIRST programs as either a mentor or event volunteer. We allow time off for our staff to support their volunteer roles within the FIRST programs. Volunteering is also a good way to get feedback directly from our primary customer base: FIRST teams. We currently have staff who are active mentors on 5 separate FRC teams, and 4 FTC teams.
This is an in-person role, so the individual must relocate to Kokomo or the surrounding area. There is currently some economic growth going on in Kokomo, Indiana with the recent announcement that a second Electric Vehicle battery plant will be built here by Automaker Stellantis and Samsung SDI, through their joint venture with StarPlus Energy, creating an additional 1,400 new jobs. Kokomo is the home of the Stallantis Transmission plant, where all the Jeep transmissions are manufactured, Haynes International and many other businesses. We anticipate further growth with the StarPlus Energy plants in the coming years.
Kokomo has annual festivals & attractions, and a lively summer concert series. It is just 3 hours from Chicago, IL and Louisville, KY and 2 hours from Cincinnati, OH, 4+ hours from Detroit, MI and St. Louis, MO, all very drivable distances. If you’re looking outside of Kokomo, we have employees who commute from Lafayette and Carmel, Indiana. The median sold price of a 4 bedroom house in August 2023 in Kokomo was $276K.
There are five school corporations and two private schools within the county. Indiana is a school-choice state. For higher education opportunities, Kokomo has a branch of Indiana University, Purdue Polytechnic and Ivy Tech Community College.
For this position, AndyMark offers a competitive salary and benefits with an annual salary range of $80,000 - $120,000, depending on experience.
